Today's #contenttiptuesday from LinkedIn recommends using the 2nd person perspective – i.e., writing with "you" in marketing and communications. This point of view (POV) brings you closer to your clients and prospects.

Too often, B2B marketers write in the 1st person perspective (we, us, I, my). The problem? Your message focuses more on the company and its products than the prospect's challenges or needs.

Using the 2nd person helps you connect human-to-human with your client or prospect. It forces you to think about the world through their eyes and makes your message more relatable.

So, the next time you write "we" in a marketing message, think about how you can craft the sentence with "you" instead. Chances are, it will lead to more value-oriented language in the process.
